Julie Khamati

Julie Khamati is a development and philanthropy professional with over seven years of experience across grantmaking, portfolio management, gender-responsive programming, and organizational development in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is passionate about locally led development and strengthening the organizations and leaders driving change within their communities.

Before joining African Collaborative, Julie worked at the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), supporting gender equality, girls' education, and women's empowerment initiatives across Africa. During her time at FAWE, she contributed to the successful mobilization of more than USD 6 million from funders including Global Affairs Canada, the Mastercard Foundation, and the Ford Foundation.

Julie holds a B.A. in Development Studies from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and is completing an M.A. in Gender and Development Studies at Kenyatta University. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, exploring new places, and sharing a good laugh.
