• Registered in their country of operations

• Have a growing board transitioning from founding to governance

• Employ paid staff

• Conduct external audits annually for the past two years

• Maintain basic financial management systems and processes

No. Only the requested documents submitted through the refresher form will be reviewed. If you missed uploading required documents or need to make changes, contact the grants team for guidance before the submission deadline. Unrequested documents will not be considered to ensure fairness among applicants.

No. AVFund primarily funds organizations with annual budgets between $150,000 and $1,500,000. However, we consider context, cost of impact, and organizational stage when reviewing applications. We aim for our grants to constitute less than 30% of an organization’s budget to encourage diverse revenue sources.

Between 8 and 12 organizations will be selected.

Each partner will receive $60,000 in unrestricted funding annually for three years, plus an additional $15,000 annually for organizational development—totaling $75,000 per year.

While we are moving away from the term “capacity building,” our funding includes $15,000 annually dedicated to organizational development.

Partners will receive unrestricted funding for three years, with the possibility of renewal.

Applications are reviewed by the AVFund Grants Team and Grantmaking Committee. Semi-finalists will participate in virtual or in-person site visits. Applicants will receive updates after each stage. Final funding decisions are made by the Grantmaking Committee.

Our team will schedule a Zoom call and share specific questions regarding your financial systems, governance, and other operational areas. You can designate appropriate team members to answer these questions.

Referees will receive a brief survey with targeted questions. We may also arrange quick discussions via Zoom, WhatsApp, or phone. If needed, interpreters will be provided for non-English speakers.

Grantees will be informed of funding decisions by the end of the process. Details about the formal announcement will be shared at that time.
